Make RIPPLE Africa Your School’s Chosen Charity

RIPPLE Africa receives many enquires from schools in the UK and further afield which are looking to establish a link with a school in Malawi or to set up a pen-pal exchange. Unfortunately, we are unable to do either of these with our limited resources, but we would warmly welcome any school interested in fundraising to enable us to buy things such as pens, pencils, exercise books, textbooks, desks, or to pay teachers’ salaries.

Many schools nominate a chosen charity to be the recipient of school-wide fundraising and support. RIPPLE Africa would love to have the support of more schools in the UK and around the world. If you think RIPPLE Africa is worthy of being your school’s chosen charity, write to your Headmaster or your school’s charity committee and nominate us. Or better still, work with your school’s teachers, pupils, and committees to organise a fundraising event for RIPPLE Africa. Depending on the size of your fundraising event and the proximity of your school to one of RIPPLE Africa’s UK team, we may even be able to come and do a talk or presentation at your event as a thank you!

Resources for Your Classroom

RIPPLE Africa receives many e-mails from teachers looking for resources to use in their classrooms. Many teachers ask about what life is like in Malawi, information about life in developing countries at large, and also about specialist subjects such as deforestation, public health, and poverty. To help teachers and schools learn more about development work in Malawi, we have endeavoured to provide lots of general information and facts on our website which can be used in the classroom. General information about education in Malawi, and deforestation and the environment in Malawi, can be found as the last link in the main Education and Environment sections. We also have a series of PDF documents available to download on the Resources page, and YouTube videos which bring our projects and goals to life. If you would like a DVD with our YouTube videos or help navigating our website to find the information you are looking for, please e-mail us.

Group Volunteering in Malawi

Some secondary schools are looking to give their students the unique opportunity to travel as a school group and experience volunteering in Malawi. If your school is interested in providing this opportunity for your students, please read our section about Group Volunteering or send us an e-mail to discuss the possibilities.
