| RIPPLE Africa has the use of about five acres of land adjacent to Mwaya Beach, and we have set up a demonstration tree nursery which is used for training purposes and an experimental vegetable garden. We hold regular meetings to train local communities about environmental issues, including tree planting, reforestation, fuel-efficient wood burning clay stoves (mbaula), composting, fruit growing and drying, etc. RIPPLE Africa has been working closely with the Village Development Committee (VDC), who are responsible for administering the local by-laws that it and RIPPLE Africa have drawn up to stop bush fires and the felling of trees. We are interested in assisting with agriculture in the future, and we're keen to have volunteers to help with this project. For more information, please click here. |
