| Primary Schools at Mwaya, Mazembe, Matete, and Kachere RIPPLE Africa is helping four local primary schools by providing additional buildings, maintaining existing buildings, and making and providing desks. The charity also pays the salaries of 15 Malawian trainee teachers as there is a desperate shortage of government teachers. For example, at Mazembe Primary School, there are 466 pupils and only two government teachers. The overseas volunteer teaching assistants help the Malawian primary school teachers and trainee teachers, primarily with English and maths. The children are very keen to learn and, thanks to the additional teachers funded by RIPPLE Africa and to the overseas volunteers the charity recruits, they receive more individual attention. Not only do the children benefit enormously from the volunteers’ input, but the volunteers form a close bond with the children and the school that they will always treasure. |

The primary schools are the focal point of the communities which understand the importance of education, and RIPPLE Africa is keen to improve the standard of education at the primary schools through recruiting overseas volunteers to help the teachers, by funding the additional trainee teachers, and by providing books and other resources which are donated to us. We also want to recruit volunteers who would be able to give additional training to all the teachers to make learning fun and interesting for the children.
