| Mwaya
Primary School
There
are approximately 800 pupils at Mwaya Primary School. They are taught
by six Malawian teachers who are paid by the government, together with
eight additional Malawian trainee teachers who are paid by RIPPLE Africa.
The overseas volunteer teaching assistants help the Malawian primary
school teachers and trainee teachers, primarily with English and maths.
The children are very keen to learn and, thanks to the additional teachers
funded by RIPPLE Africa and to the overseas volunteers the charity recruits,
they receive more individual attention. Not only do the children benefit
enormously from the volunteers’ input, but the volunteers form
a close bond with the children and the school that they will always
treasure. |

The
primary school is the focal point of the community which understands
the importance of education, and RIPPLE Africa is keen to improve the
standard of education at the primary school through recruiting overseas
volunteers to help the teachers, by funding the additional trainee teachers,
and by providing books and other resources which are donated to us.
We also want to recruit volunteers who would be able to give additional
training to all the teachers to make learning fun and interesting for
the children. If you want to know more about this volunteer opportunity,
